About Us .

About Our ATAR Calculator

We are an independent online resource that helps Australian students make sense of the ATAR. Our aim is simple: take a system that confuses many students and families, and explain it in plain English.

Senior results, scaling, aggregates and selection ranks are described differently in every state and territory, and the terms alone can feel overwhelming. We bring that information together so students, parents and teachers can plan with more confidence and less guesswork.

Our Purpose

Many students first meet the ATAR when they are already under pressure. We believe clear information should not be hard to find.

We write for the Year 11 student choosing subjects, the Year 12 student waiting on results, and the parent or teacher trying to give good advice.

What We Believe

  • Clarity first. Complex rules should be explained in everyday language, without jargon.
  • Honesty about limits. An estimate is a guide, not a promise, and we say so plainly.
  • Students first. We want to help you decide, not push you toward any particular course or provider.
  • Independence. We are not owned by, or connected with, any admissions authority.

How We Create Our Content

Our explanations are based on information that state and territory admissions authorities publish themselves, such as their guides and scaling reports.

Rules and scaling change from year to year, so we aim to review our pages whenever new official information is released. If you spot something that looks out of date, please tell us and we will look into it.

Independent and unofficial

We are not UAC, VTAC, QTAC, TISC, SATAC or the ACT Board of Senior Secondary Studies, and we are not affiliated with any of them. For your official ATAR, results and admission rules, always check with your own state or territory authority.
